How We Can Help You!

Why You Need a Website

You need someone who understands the Internet medium in order to make sure your message comes across. The internet is not like print or broadcast but combines the strengths of both while adding immediate interactivity to the user. You can't afford second-rate design in today's marketplace.

You need an experienced professional who understands that electronic commerce is more than installing a shopping cart on your site. The Internet is radically changing how many companies are doing business, from placing orders with suppliers to serving customers after the sale.

We can offer your company the skills, experience and tools to succeed at ground zero of the Internet age. Many businesses – especially smaller ones – have yet to feel the impact of the Web. They may read somewhere that the Web has been overblown, that it's not going to affect their industry. There has been some hype about the Internet. For every Amazon.Com, which has soared in revenue and value, there are thousands of companies that have seen little changes in business from the Web…yet

But the real impact for most businesses will happen over the next three years, and companies that fail to prepare will feel the pain. The affect of the Internet can be summed up in one word: commoditization. While some services remain unique and consultative, most businesses are, intrinsically, commodity services based on two fundamental values: competitive pricing and reliable quality.

You probably compete with several companies providing similar products and services, but you do it a little better. Still, most business executives overestimate the value of their company's value add. You may do what you do a little better than the next guy, but that difference is often lost on your buyers – they do business with you because you are reliable and cost-effective, deliver on time and meet their needs.

The Web, however, is changing the world into a buyer's market. No longer are buyers restricted to working with suppliers in a limited geographic range – in many cases, they can investigate and work with virtually any company in the U.S. Just as important, no longer is it difficult to investigate alternative suppliers.

Prior to the Web, a buyer would have to identify several vendors, make calls, often wait for callbacks, then wait for company literature or even an in person sales call – all very time consuming, making buyers reluctant to change. Now, with the Web, your competition is just a click away. Detailed company information, client lists, even prices are available 24 hours a day for anyone in the world.

Consider the mortgage industry. Only 7 states in the U.S. require a mortgage company doing business in the state to maintain a physical office within state boundaries. Prior to the Web, most mortgage companies did business locally because there was no cost-effective way to market nationally. But with a Web site, every mortgage company is now a national company, capable of stealing business from companies who aren't on the Web. And while some mortgage companies may do more for the customer than others, most consumers will perceive and appreciate little difference other than rates. Since price is the key driver, home buyers are using the Web to find the lowest rates.

Does your company produce and ship a physical item of some kind? Do you sell only locally or regionally? Could a company in Montana produce the same item at the same level of quality – but probably at a lower cost? Then your business may be in danger of becoming a commodity.

A client of ours, a law firm, began offering their services online. Business more than doubled over a period of time, and inquiries came from all across the United States. Sure, there were other lawyers out there, but this firm had long experience, specialized knowledge and they delivered. So their clients didn't care the firm was in upstate New York instead of next door.

If you think your business will be unaffected by the Internet, think again. If you don't believe the Internet can generate new sales, think again. But the Web is getting more crowded every day. The longer you wait, the more of a head start you are giving your competition.
